I grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, graduating from Rhodes University with a BA degree in Fine Art (Painting) in 1990. In 1995, we moved to England and after 16 years as a working mother, I have resumed painting full-time.

I paint a wide range of subjects, enjoying landscapes the most, drawing inspiration from nature and am especially interested in the influence of light. Capturing mood and atmosphere through establishing a sense of place, use of tone and colour are elements intrinsic to painting and what I strive to achieve in my work.

I work primarily in oils on canvas, although I enjoy working in other mediums as well. The English Romantic painters, Constable and Turner and the French Impressionists, Monet and Pissarro, are important influences in my work.

I am currently working on a series of abstracts; French landscapes and rural villages in the Dordogne region; South African landscapes as well as “London by Night”, a series of black and white paintings based on the evocative photos of London in the early 1900s, taken by Francis Sandwith.
